After anesthesia, your dentist accesses the inner pulp chamber, removes the infected tissue, cleans and shapes the canals, fills them with a biocompatible material, and places a crown to protect and restore the tooth.

Root canal therapy is recommended for patients with a tooth that has a deep infection, severe decay reaching the pulp, or significant trauma. If you're experiencing intense toothache, prolonged sensitivity to heat or cold, or swelling near a tooth, this treatment may be what saves it.
With modern techniques and effective anesthesia, most patients are surprised by how comfortable root canal therapy feels — often no more than getting a filling. You'll be fully numb throughout, and we take every step to ensure you feel at ease.
Most root canal treatments are completed in one to two appointments, each lasting 60 to 90 minutes. Complex cases or teeth with multiple canals may require additional time or a follow-up visit.
After the root canal is complete, a crown is typically recommended to protect the treated tooth and restore its full function. Delaying the crown can put the tooth at risk of fracture, so it's best to schedule it promptly.
Mild soreness around the treated tooth is normal for a few days after the procedure and is easily managed with over-the-counter pain relievers. Most patients return to their normal routine the same day or the next day.
