Dr. Gulizio is a respected leader in the field of aesthetic and implant dentistry and has extensive experience in esthetic dentistry, smile design, complex dental problems and TMJ treatment.   Dr. Gulizio is the Program Director for New York University's post-doctoral specialty program in Advanced Esthetics and Occlusion (Opens in new tab.) and he is regularly asked to speak throughout the country on Esthetic Dentistry and Implant Dentistry. His proudest and most noteworthy accomplishment is the preeminent dental practice that he and his partner, Dr. Steven Cordoves, formed at Core Smiles in Manhattan.

At Core Smiles, Dr. Gulizio has built a practice that ensures patients are treated with the highest level of care.  Patients receive top-level treatment with techniques clinically proven to be successful using the cleanest, safest, and highest quality materials. Core Smiles boasts the latest in dental technology, including digital X-rays and photography, digital impressions, computer-aided design and manufacturing, virtual computer-guided implant placement, and more.

It is Dr. Gulizio’s meticulous attention to detail that has allowed him to enjoy a reputation for uncompromising clinical excellence with a focus on implant dentistry and esthetic (or cosmetic) dentistry. Additionally, he has advanced training and certification in TMJ treatment and oral-facial pain disorders, as well as myofascial pain treatment.

EDUCATION & SPECIALTY TRAINING

Initially a student in veterinary school, Dr. Gulizio ultimately realized his dreams to pursue dentistry and graduated magna cum laude, receiving his B.S. in Microbiology & Cell Science at the University of Florida in 1996. He pursued his dental degree at the  University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine  (Opens in new tab.) and graduated summa cum laude in 2000. He was one of two individuals from his class to complete a Master's Degree in Education at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education, focusing on Professional Leadership.

After conferring his Doctorate in Dental Medicine, Dr. Gulizio pursued  Prosthodontic specialty training  (Opens in new tab.) at the University of Connecticut. There, he completed a rigorous residency program with strong emphasis on implant reconstruction, esthetic dentistry and removable prosthodontics, including dentures and partial dentures. He obtained his second Master's Degree in Dental Sciences, focusing on Implant-retained Overdentures, and was given the John J. Sharry award for his Master's thesis project. The associated manuscript was published in the Journal of Prosthodontics in March 2005, and is a widely referenced article on the subject — both nationally and internationally.  In 2006, his publication was among the top 10 referenced dental articles in dental implant literature and even today, continues to be widely recognized as a very important contribution to dental implant literature.

Dr. Gulizio values the importance of continued education and regularly attends conferences, lectures and mini-residencies, as well as conducts lectures throughout the United States to other dentists and specialists on Dental Esthetics and Implant Dentistry. He is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry
